A notice nailed to a post is the cheapest way to tell players what the authorities think of them. It is also the fastest way to start an argument about whether the likeness is a good one.
A heading, a portrait, the name, the charge, the reward and the office that signed it, with a line of small print at the foot. Drop in an image for the portrait and the rest is typography. An empty field prints nothing, so a decree with no reward on it simply has no reward line.
The Wild West skin is a wood-type bill, all condensed capitals and rules. Fantasy is a decree on rag paper with a seal beneath the text. Eastern Bloc is a militia notice, stamped and official, the kind that is glued to a window rather than nailed to a post.
Missing is a present-day flyer run off on an office copier and taped to a lamp post: a huge headline, a school photograph, the last sighting and a phone number, with the grain and dark edges a photocopy leaves. Station propaganda is a screen-printed bulletin from a far-future security directorate, a stencilled word on a black band, the deserter’s face in a gunsight and the reward in credits.
A4 at 300 DPI, and worth printing on something heavier than office paper if it is going to be handled all session. What the papers wrote about the same crime is a Newspaper; what the police wrote is an Official Form.
